Mémoires cachées du Xxe Ciel

Mémoires cachées du Xxe Ciel

Bernard Yslaire’s art has always exuded a rare note of sensuality, which can be seen in “Sambre”, as well as in “XXe Ciel”, his most recent and most ambitious work. In the wake of the publication of the second volume of “XXe Ciel”, published by Humanoïdes Associés, Champaka has published a work in which it takes particular pride: “Mémoires cachées du XXe Ciel.” This handsome portfolio has the look and feel of an old-fashioned photograph album, heightened by the dense black finish of the hard-cover bindings and the black fabric trim of the spine. The title is printed in a deep red that calls to mind the world of Sambre; the second X is punched right through the thickness of the black cover to reveal a glimpse of the first drawing. The ten graphic compositions that are secreted within this sober case are sketches tinged with eroticism. This revealing collection is what Yslaire’s many admirers have long hoped to see.
