Yslaire created this drawing at a time when he had not yet become the author of “XXe Ciel”, but the theme of angels is already present. Champaka has included this type of image in a collection entitled “Les anges.” “The theme of this image” recounts the author of “Sambre”, “set in a time and space that remain uncertain, initially represented the casting out of Eden of the damned lovers. It encompassed a mythology, however imprecise, of the origins of the wars among the Sambre. That is to say, the Palaeolithic ancestors, however romanticised, of Bernard and Julie.”
