The year is 1996, and the many fans of the “Sambre” series wait patiently for a new album. They know that this is the price to be paid for perfection. Champaka takes this opportunity to tentatively raise the curtain in a preview of what is thought to be the final album of the tortured saga, “Faut-il que nous mourions ensemble?” From the mass of preparatory work for the album, Yslaire gathers together a “best of” collection. There would be no question of publishing them in their raw state: their creator has reworked them with the intention of giving them a new lease on life. This they now enjoy in “Esquisses d’une tragédie”, a distillation of the essence of Yslaire’s graphic vision.
