“For the Sambre residence, on the rue des Innocents, I took my inspiration from various eighteenth-century Parisian dwellings that were most likely demolished. I took from each one the elements that interested me, but it’s the building in Brussels that houses the Amadeus restaurant that inspired me the most. The ground floor had formerly housed Rodin’s studio. I did a lot of sketches there. To my mind, in terms of the architecture, the residence has remained quite faithful to the Amadeus building” confides Yslaire in “La légende des Sambre.”
