Towards the end of 1994, François Schuiten contributed the cover image and two illustrations to Jules Verne’s hitherto unpublished manuscript, “Paris au XXème siècle”. Around that time, Champaka issued “Les nécropoles de Paris”, the first screenprint in the Collection Jules Verne. The meeting of these imagined worlds, those of Cités Obscures and Jules Verne, was fated to be, such are the fascinating ideas that result. In late 1995, Hachette will publish “Paris au XXème siècle” in the form of a Hetzel facsimile (Hetzel published the early Verne novels). Schuiten has created the cover and seven interior illustrations. Champaka published, in November, “Un siècle fiévreux”, the second image in the Collection Jules Verne.
