The first screen-print (“Wintertime”) and the last (“Falltime”) in the “Quatre saisons” series bask in an atmosphere redolent of New England. Does the creator of “Blitz” see this as being a significant departure from the atmosphere of his beloved England? “It adds a touch of modernity; I don’t feel confined to a caricature of my own style. I leave England behind yet remain true to myself. It’s just part of my own evolution – my shoes are no longer English, but from the New World (laughs). A mixture of elegance and ruggedness, New England offers the formality and culture of old Europe, but also space.” Excerpt from “Champaka News n°3” – December 1993
