En attendant Fantasio

En attendant Fantasio

Spirou waits for his friend Fantasio, but Chaland’s faithful readers can have no such illusions. It was Floc’h who best expressed this sense of loss in “Chaland et les publicitaires” (Champaka 2000). “It’s a terrible realization, but at the age of 33, Chaland had reached his creative peak and could, in a sense, “leave.” He had created his major work, “Le jeune Albert.” I think of what was said by André Malraux, whose experience was similarly painful: “After some time has passed, we think back on the death of our loved ones with an almost inexplicable tenderness.” The fact that Chaland was himself a very tender soul makes it easier for us.”
