This image is the first fruit of a collaboration that has endured between Champaka and Philippe Berthet. It immortalises “Le Privé d’Hollywood”, a series written by François Rivière and Jose-Louis Bocquet, which might have enjoyed a long and illustrious lifespan had its authors not been loath to confine themselves to a lengthy series. Strictly no more than three stories in all; three superb albums, each one composed of around forty-four plates. Hippolyte Finn, an ice-cool private investigator with a lot of class, finds plenty to investigate around the film studios of Hollywood. One can die for a laugh on the silver screen, but behind the scenes, as this beautiful screen-print shows, the killing is for real.
